A Sister’s Eulogy for Steve Jobs → nytimes.com

Perhaps it’s strange to say, but I do like a good eulogy. A well written eulogy is a heart-felt account of a human life and a person’s character. Listening or reading often leaves you with a greater sense of who that person was, what they lived for and the impact they made, however great or small.

A rocky horror story

A man sitting next to my friend and me in a cafe on a North London street is approached by a little girl in white tights, a smiley pumpkin mask and a green cape.

Girl: “Trick or treat?”

He: “Go away. This is England. We don’t trick or treat. Halloween is American.”

Sandi Toksvig on BBC radio’s Comedy News Quiz:

“A study has found that the fatter a man is the richer he needs to be in order to attract a woman. The report suggests that the average man would need to earn an extra 1,200 pounds for every 20 pounds he gains in weight. The study also found that we are now in the 21st century and that women are perfectly capable of getting a job themselves and earn their own money.”
