Winter light flooded the hallway this afternoon. I removed a picture and an ornament from this shot. The tea pot, I kept. It was given to me by my then-boyfriend, who visited when I was living in Tokyo in 2001. He was a rare and perfect human being. I spent most of our relationship feeling inadequate. When we parted, I cried at my inability to love him. I cried that it would never work out. When I finally arrived home, we tried to continue a relationship. It didn’t work. It couldn’t work. He changed me forever.
