Stephen Doyle, the

gives his definition of “flamboyant work” in an interview with Debbie Millman for The Design Observer. 

He said he honestly did not expect to receive this prize. Why? Because…

(…) I don’t think my work is very flamboyant and it’s easy to reward flamboyant work. I mentioned this to someone from the museum when she called me to tell me that I had won and she said that the jury actually commented that the work was not flamboyant and that’s what drew them to the work, that it wasn’t so flashy compared to some of the other portfolios that they were looking at, so I was very flattered by that.
